Warm and lightweight
I have the One jacket and love it but needed something a little warmer for when temperatures drop into the lower 40s. This jacket is so much warmer but doesn't feel bulky at all. The outer is similar to the One, nice and soft and doesn't make a lot of noise. I docked a point because similar to other Kuhl pieces the fit is inconsistent. I got an XS in the One and it fit perfectly but was tight in the shoulders when layering. So I sized up to a S for the Aktivator and then size increase isn't proportional. The shoulders are snug and wearing a light sweater underneath I can feel the snugness when flexing my shoulders. But the waist is way larger than expected and the arms are much longer. Overall the small is larger in everywhere but not really in the shoulders. Obviously this comparison is a bit flawed since it's between 2 different jackets but both jackets have the same fit profile overall. Both are snug in the shoulders but much looser in the waist. I feel like the XS in theory would've been perfect if widened the shoulders area but kept the waist and arm length. The fit in the shoulders impacts comfort for me the most though so I'm happy I went with the small over the XS. This has a hidden waist cinch so I'll definitely be using that. If you don't intend to wear layers under, then your regular size would be fine. If you're layering or have broader shoulders, maybe size up. For reference I'm 5'2" and 98 lbs and I have pretty narrow shoulders and generally wear XS in most brands. Overall I love this jacket so far and can't wait to test it out. I loved the wind and water resistance of the One and I expect this will perform similarly but keep me warmer. The hood is nice but the shape is like a square. Maybe there's some functional reason for that? I don't know but it's not the most flattering hood shape but not a deal breaker.

Best purchase! Took this jacket on a trip to Patagonia and it was excellent in wind resistance. Can layer for more warmth. I opt for a heavier jacket around < 40 F degrees. This jacket exceeded expectations.

I bought this jacket a couple of years ago and have worn it most every day (fall, winter, spring) in Ireland. It is perfect, warm, wind proof, water resistant. I love the jacket. My only request is for it to be more snug around the neckline. In the wind I always need to wear a scarf to keep the cold out. Otherwise it is fantastic.

This thing is the all around second skin. Can act as a light weight but comfy hoody or the classy going out jacket. It’s so light and so warm! I love it and will be getting another color.

Perfect jacket for fall and winter months. I love the fit, its super flattering and the back is a little longer. I also like that its not bulky and keeps your body temperature comfortable. Its light enough to pack and it goes great when your dressed up or down.
