Men's Craft Pants
Choose from a variety of fabrics, fits, and features for the men's craft pants that are right for you:
Heavyweight Canvas Pants. When the job calls for abrasion resistance over featherweight feel, a combed cotton canvas weave delivers structure that softens with wear. Reinforced thigh-to-knee panels add a second skin where ladders, tool belts, and jobsite grit chew through ordinary pants first.
DURALUX™ Softshell Pants. For craft work that swings between shop and site, our DURALUX™ softshell pant is a quick-drying nylon-spandex blend with a DWR finish and UPF 50+ sun protection. It moves like a hiking pant but reads like a chino, so you can wrap a project, then meet the client without a wardrobe change.
Articulated Cotton Pants. Some days you want the hand of real cotton with enough mechanical stretch to crouch, climb, and kneel without binding. Articulated knees and a gusseted crotch turn a classic cotton bottom into a pant that actually keeps up with you on the eighth hour of a build.
FreeRyde™ Waistband Construction. A FreeRyde™ waistband sits flat under a tool belt, flexes with your hips, and stops the dig-in that ruins long days on your feet. Pair it with a relaxed thigh and tapered leg and you have a craft pant that wears like workwear but moves like sportswear.
If your day leans heavier (welding sparks, framing, demo), see our men's work pants for harder-wearing fabrics and bigger pocketing. For long-mile, hot-weather days where the priority is breathability over abrasion, our men's hiking pants collection runs lighter and stretchier.
Look for signature touches like articulated knees for unrestricted movement, a gusseted crotch that opens up your stride, a hidden security pocket for keys or cash, and a drop-in cell phone pocket so your hands stay on the tools, not patting your back pockets.
A practical guide to choosing men's craft pants: fabric, fit, weather, and how they differ from work, hiking, and travel pants.
What should you look for in men's craft pants?
Stretch lets you crouch and kneel without splitting a seam. Articulated knees pre-shape the leg. A gusseted crotch opens your hip range for ladders. A DWR finish sheds coffee, sawdust, and drizzle. Our DURALUX™ softshell pants pair UPF 50+ with quick-dry performance, and a FreeRyde™ waistband keeps the waist comfortable under a tool belt.
Are jeans or cotton pants OK for hiking, working, or traveling in?
Wet denim is heavy, cold, and slow to dry. Synthetic-blend technical fabrics (nylon, polyester, spandex) wick moisture, dry fast, and keep their stretch when wet. If you love the hand of cotton, look for a combed cotton canvas with built-in mechanical stretch and articulated knees. For anything wetter, step up to a DURALUX™ softshell instead.
What's the difference between hiking, work, and travel pants?
Craft pants sit between work and travel: tough enough for a build day, clean enough to wear to a client meeting after. If you're flying with one bottom in the bag and need it sharp at dinner, our men's travel pants are tuned for that. The construction features that matter (articulated knees, a gusseted crotch, a DWR finish) show up across all four. Fabric weight and silhouette are what actually separate them.
What's the best fit for craft pants, slim, relaxed, or wide-leg?
A gusseted crotch and articulated knees matter more than whether the leg reads slim or relaxed. Relaxed and straight cuts give more room over boots and kneepads, which is why most craft styles trend that way. Slim cuts work if the fabric has real 4-way stretch. Pick the silhouette you'll wear. Make sure the construction is doing the work.
What should you wear in hot vs cold weather?
DURALUX™ softshell is the hot-weather workhorse, light, quick-drying, sun-protective, and breathable enough for full sun days. For cold craft work, a heavier canvas or a lined softshell holds heat without bulk.
Are craft pants waterproof, or just water-resistant?
DWR is a surface treatment that beads off splashes, light drizzle, and drink spills. It's right for most conditions, but not a substitute for a hardshell. For sustained rain, step up to a dedicated water-resistant pant with sealed construction. DWR wears off over time. A wash-in refresher restores it.
